How to get involved

Corporate staff are fighting for a fair deal. Here’s how you can get involved.

1. JOIN THE UNION

The union is made up of members just like you who want to protect their legal rights at work. Only members can take protected industrial action, and the UFU’s legal team can only represent union members in legal disputes. But, most importantly, union members are the ones who shape our campaigns and our work.

Remember: FRV does not have a right to know whether you are a union member.

2. Learn about FRV’s offer

FRV is counting on people not understanding the fine print. They’re hoping you’ll just accept whatever is on offer. But information is power, and we’ve laid out some of the key problems with FRV’s offer here.

3. USE CAMPAIGN MATERIALS

We have a range of materials for you to download and use to show your support for a fair offer. These include zoom backgrounds, email banners, and printable posters.

Remember: FRV cannot take action against union members for displaying these campaign materials.

4. TAKE PART in work stoppages

Stopping work at designated times is a key way to make FRV realise how serious you are about getting a fair deal. Your workload is increasing but your purchasing power is going backwards, so why shouldn’t you get involved in stopping work?

Remember: Members are legally entitled to stop work at designated times (and only at those times). FRV cannot take adverse action against you for engaging in a designated work stoppage.

5. GET INVOLVED IN WORK BANS

Work bans disrupt FRV’s operations in targeted ways while keeping you at work and keeping your pay intact. Work bans are an ongoing form of protected industrial action where members refuse to perform specific tasks or follow certain instructions.

Remember: Members are legally entitled to take part in the work bans listed on this website. FRV cannot take action against you for following a work ban.

WHEN WE STAND TOGETHER, WE STAND STRONG.

Don’t be afraid to stand alongside your workmates in pursuit of a fair deal.

Unions have fought for decades to defend your right to seek fair pay and fair conditions, and to ensure your job security. Under the Fair Work Act, there are legislated general protections that protect you from FRV taking any detrimental action against you. Therefore, you cannot be punished for joining your union or getting involved in protected industrial action. The UFU will use all avenues to defend your legal rights and your employment.

If you have any concerns about how you are being treated (or might be treated) if you get involved, let us know.
