sterday, FRV firefighters from Fire Station 87 Dandenong joined Victoria Police Search and Rescue, CFA and SES volunteers, and Ambulance Victoria in a complex technical rescue at San Remo.
A man had fallen into a narrow crevice and sustained a broken leg. Search and Rescue responders entered the confined space and carefully brought him out, before FRV’s high-angle rescue team took over.
FRV firefighters then used their specialist rope rescue skills to haul the injured man to safety from the difficult terrain.
The job wasn’t finished there. Search and Rescue personnel and two FRV firefighters were subsequently winched out by the Victoria Police Air Wing.
