Two years ago today, Fire Rescue Victoria told the Fair Work Commission that every condition in the proposed firefighters’ EBA was agreed — except wages and allowances.
Since then, firefighters have faced:
🗓️ Two years of delays
✍🏼 Two years of bad‑faith behaviour
🚫 And now a Commissioner walking back what was already settled
FRV Commissioner Gavin Freeman is now refusing to honour previously agreed conditions and is threatening to strip away hard‑won safety protections. Firefighters are right to feel betrayed — and that’s exactly why 90.85% of firefighters and support staff voted No Confidence in FRV leadership.
Commissioner Freeman could put a fair offer on the table today. Instead, he’s choosing to target his own workforce by openly signalling cuts to conditions that were already agreed.
This is not leadership. Firefighters deserve far better.
