Last Week UFU Secretary, Peter Marshall, wrote to the Minister for Emergency Services highlighting concerns with the state of Victoria’s Fire Rescue Fleet.

As we approach what is expected to be hot and extreme conditions on Wednesday these concerns remain.

Air Conditioning in appliances on days of extreme heat is an important requirement to ensure Firefighters are able to work in an environment of extreme weather.

Amongst a list of faults, an appliance at Windsor is without functioning air conditioning and multiple vents are broken.

The front offside headlight is out, a seat belt is not retracting and the offside reel does not retract.

The Minister cannot continue to remain silent on the urgent requirement to fix our fleet. It is leaving our community and firefighters at risk as we continue to face extreme conditions during this late fire season.
