Outstanding work by UFU members from Fire Station 92 Cranbourne during a complex multi-casualty motor vehicle accident last year.
Commander Harris, Senior Station Officer Ali, Leading Firefighter Anderton, Leading Firefighter Saveneh and Leading Firefighter Bibby worked seamlessly alongside Ambulance Victoria and Victoria Police to provide rapid patient care and effective scene management under challenging conditions.
The incident involved seven patients, including young children, with five patients meeting major trauma criteria.
Through the Emergency Medical Response (EMR) program, firefighters delivered immediate life-saving care including bleeding control, triage and assisting with the treatment and transport of critically injured patients.
In recognition of their efforts, the crew received a formal letter of commendation from Ambulance Victoria — acknowledging their professionalism, teamwork and clinical capability under pressure.
Most importantly, all patients survived and continue recovering.
This incident highlights the critical partnership between FRV and Ambulance Victoria, with firefighters responding to more than 10,000 medical emergencies each year in support of the Victorian community.
