Leaked documents show FRV’s top brass have known for a long time that Victoria’s fire truck fleet is in crisis — with 132 trucks set to go beyond their 15-year replacement age, critical aerial shortages already hitting, and less than half of required replacements planned.

FRV Commissioner Gavin Freeman has repeatedly downplayed the risk — but this internal briefing proves they knew the danger and misled the public.

“This document shows that there is a danger, that they know there is a danger, and that they have been misleading the public and firefighters about it.”

The UFU acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land, and we pay our respect to their Elders, past and present.

The UFU supports the call of First Nations peoples for a Voice to Parliament to be enshrined in the Constitution.
