Recently, UFU members welcomed three powerhouse players from the Western Bulldogs AFLW team — Kristie-Lee Weston-Turner, Keeley Hardingham and Alice Edmonds — to Fire Station 67 – Ballarat City!

The visit was a great opportunity to learn more about each other’s roles — from the fireground to the footy field. Our firefighters put the players through their paces with some hands-on firefighting drills and gave them a full tour of the trucks and gear.

Some of the Bulldogs players had already crossed paths with UFU members from Ballarat during a recent Fire Ops immersion day program — and with Ballarat being the Doggies’ second home ground, the connection felt even stronger.

Firefighting and footy might look different on the surface, but at their core they share the same values — teamwork, comradery, discipline, and the drive to perform at your peak when it counts.

It was a fantastic experience all round, and we’re looking forward to many more moments like this
