Important Questions for FRV Commissioner Gavin Freeman.

While Victorian Police Commissioner Shane Patton advocates for fair pay and acknowledges his members’ challenges (Herald Sun, Sept 24) Fire Rescue Victoria Commissioner Freeman continues to publicly issue generic statements praising all emergency services without directly addressing his own members, especially after recent incidents in locations such as Warrnambool, Dandenong and Melbourne.

With no pay rise in four years, frustration among FRV members is continually growing, who are left wondering when Commissioner Freeman will advocate for them.

A recent vote of no confidence against Ambulance Victoria’s CEO by its members led to their resignation, demonstrating the risks of ignoring frontline staff

What type of leader does Commissioner Freeman want to be? Will he stand up for his team, or continue abandoning FRV members and destroying trust.

The UFU acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land, and we pay our respect to their Elders, past and present.

The UFU supports the call of First Nations peoples for a Voice to Parliament to be enshrined in the Constitution.
