On Friday, UFU members took to the streets of Niddrie to speak directly with the community about the Carroll Labor Government’s failure to support firefighters and keep communities safe.
The reaction from locals was telling. Residents were shocked and angry to learn they are paying double the Emergency Services Tax while firefighters are still relying on ageing fire trucks, more than twice their intended service life, that continually break down and put lives at risk.
People were asking why they are paying more but getting less when it comes to their safety.
The message was clear: the community expects better.
If Labor doesn’t support you and your family, why should you support Labor?
