We’re back in Frankston today, talking with the community about firefighter and community safety.
In 2021, Paul Edbrooke announced $9.3 million for a new state-of-the-art Frankston Fire Station, saying firefighters deserved facilities that reflected the service they provide the community.
He has also previously told Parliament that his intention would “always be to protect and empower our firefighters”.
Now, as Emergency Services Minister, submissions filed on his behalf in the Fair Work Commission continue constitutional arguments affecting minimum staffing, consultation and provisions covering uniforms, appliances and equipment — the very things firefighters say are fundamental to keeping firefighters and the community safe.
Five years after that fire station commitment, firefighters are again out in Frankston asking where that support has gone.
