Paul Edbrooke knows the fire service. As a former firefighter and UFU member, he has experienced the work and understood the importance of safe conditions, properly resourced fire services and supporting the communities firefighters protect.
Now, as Victoria’s Emergency Services Minister, firefighters are entitled to expect that experience to translate into strong advocacy for the fire service.
Instead, the UFU continues to raise serious concerns about the state of Victoria’s fire services — including the availability and reliability of fire trucks, resources and firefighter pay.
These are not political talking points. They are issues that directly affect firefighters and the communities they are there to protect.
Paul Edbrooke has been a firefighter. He has been a UFU member. He knows what is at stake.
The question now is whether, as Minister, he will stand up for the people and the service he once represented.
Firefighters deserve safe working conditions, reliable appliances, proper resources and fair pay.
Community safety must come before politics.
