On the very day Commissioner Gavin Freeman issued a communiqué to FRV employees about safety, firefighters and the Victorian community were being put at risk by a fire truck that should have been replaced six years ago.
Instead, its water tank failed, leaving firefighters without water at an incident. It is now off the road, with no replacement trucks available.
If safety is truly the priority, why is there silence from the Commissioner on the unsafe state of FRV’s ageing fire trucks and the daily risks firefighters face?
Safety isn’t just words in an email. It means providing firefighters and Victorians with a safe and modern fire service.
