UFU members were in Canberra this week, meeting with Senate crossbenchers to discuss protections for workers’ safety conditions.
These were important conversations about safety, fairness, and making sure every worker is properly protected on the job.
Later that same day, when the vote came, every crossbencher who was present in the Senate supported these amendments to strengthen workers’ rights and protections.
It was disappointing to see the Labor party did not support these amendments on this occasion.
Workers deserve safe workplaces and protections — and that’s what Firefighters will continue to stand up for.
