The failures are piling up across Melbourne’s western suburbs, and Victorians are being left dangerously exposed.
ASCOT VALE – Station 50
- Pump failure this morning
- Water and foam spewed through the appliance
- Truck taken out of service and unable to respond
SUNSHINE – Station 44 (Two separate failures)
- Teleboom: Transmission failure while responding under lights and sirens — forced to crawl at 40km/h to an emergency. Delayed response to a garbage truck fire.
- Pumper Tanker: Steering and suspension failure during a move-up to Melton fire station — towed away and out of service
MELTON – Station 56
- Pump controller failure
- Firefighters unable to flow water at all
- Appliance now off the run
These aren’t “isolated incidents.” They’re a crisis.
Victorians are paying double the emergency services levy this year — yet FRV faces a $114 million budget cut, enough to replace more than 100 fire trucks.
The Allan Government is gambling with firefighter and community safety. And every failure is another warning.
