Victorian firefighters are being ignored by the Allan Government creating critical safety issues with the WestGate Tunnel. Emergency services have not been given the opportunity to complete the full safety training required to respond to an incident inside the tunnel. They also still lack the specialised equipment — including radios that actually work inside the tunnel — needed to keep people safe.
At today’s public walkthrough we saw mobile phone reception not being available within the Tunnel and the community put at peril by the Government actively promoting they ignore safety concerns and go for a jaunt. A jaunt that could be life threatening is an emergency occurs. This issue will not go away, peoples lives are in danger and will be until the State Goverment does what it is supposed to do. Protect the Community now.
