In the last 48 hours, Western Melbourne has seen two Pumper Tankers go out of commission from Stations at Sunshine and Taylors Lakes.

This has left Melbourne’s Western Suburbs short of critical fire fighting infrastructure heading into what is predicted to be an elevated fire season.

On Sunday the Taylor Lakes Pumper Tanker broke down at a grass fire, forcing the Officer on scene to walk through the grass fire area to direct CFA volunteer trucks on the fireground.

Local Fire Rescue Victoria Firefighters have expressed their concern that the Western Suburbs of Melbourne will be left without critical appliances heading into Summer and have called for urgent and immediate action from Commissioner Gavin Freeman.
