That’s why the Greens are calling for a moratorium on new AI data centres until we have:
– A comprehensive AI strategy to protect our data, workers and artists.
– Environmental, water and energy standards to make sure AI data centres don’t drain our water or push up energy bills and aren’t a fire risk.
– Transparent community engagement and consultation.
– A guarantee AI data centres won’t be used for harm, like guided weaponry or surveillance
