Today marks the one-year anniversary of the cyber-attack on Fire Rescue Victoria’s (FRV) information technology systems, which occurred on 15 December 2022.
Communications Officers still do not have access to their online emergency dispatch system, remote access systems at the FRV Training Academy remain offline and professional firefighters lack access to essential services such as printing.
Stations still can’t print from a computer, and are using a shared excel spreadsheet for their rostering.
Departments still can’t access their files from before the attack.
FRVsafe, a system used to log safety issues is still an interim online form instead of an actual database program.
Mapping via the truck phones is still offline, the GPS system used locate fire hydrants is still offline.
In 1969 NASA landed on the moon, in 2023 FRV’s ICT system is stuck in the stone age.
