At Fire Station 87 in Dandenong, the station’s 15-year-old Ladder Platform is offline due to faults.
On January 23rd, Commissioner Freeman praised FRV’s “pool of spare appliances” as the solution to replace broken-down trucks.
On January 24th, firefighters were sent a 28-year-old “spare appliance” from the pool to fill the gap, but it broke down before it even made it into service.
This isn’t a pool, it’s a rapidly drying puddle!
Firefighters are being forced to rely on outdated, unreliable equipment, putting their safety and the community’s safety at risk.
Victoria urgently needs investment in a modern fire truck fleet. Firefighters deserve better. Victorians deserve better.
