This morning, a firefighter was injured during routine Breathing Apparatus checks when a bracket failed on an ageing fire truck.

This wasn’t a fireground incident.
This wasn’t during a rescue.
This happened during daily safety checks — the most basic task firefighters perform to keep themselves and the community safe.

As fire trucks get older, failures like this become more common. Cracked mounts, faulty brackets and worn components are just waiting to become the next accident.

Now imagine if this happened while your house was on fire.
While your family was inside.
While firefighters were racing against time.

Firefighters should never have to question whether the equipment meant to protect them could harm them instead.

The message to government is simple:
👉 Old trucks put lives at risk.
👉 Delays in replacement put communities in danger.
👉 Firefighters deserve safe, reliable equipment — always.
