Sorry Day

National Sorry Day – a day to acknowledge the hurt, pain and ongoing impact of government policies that saw Aboriginal children removed from their families.

We acknowledge the deep trauma and honour the strength and resilience of Aboriginal people in the face of this grievous injustice.

This is not just a past issue though, as Aboriginal children continue to be taken from their families today. We remember and support those who were taken, and those they were taken from. Today is a day to reflect and grieve together, in solidarity and love.

The UFU acknowledges Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples as the Traditional Custodians of the land, and we pay our respect to their Elders, past and present.

The UFU supports the call of First Nations peoples for a Voice to Parliament to be enshrined in the Constitution.
